Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – The 2023 Triangle Winter Sale offered over 500 catalogued horses during its recent sales event, January 26, 27, and 28 at the Oklahoma State Fair Park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Buyers traveled from across the country to have a chance at the wide selection of performance-based horses. Overall, the sale averaged $15,000 on an 80-percent sales completion, less withdrawals.
The first day of the sale started off strong as Hip No. 63 became the high seller of Session I, bringing $51,000. The 2021 blue roan colt, Dual Autumn (Dual Reyish x Autumn Sky) was consigned by Billy Wolf of Wolf Livestock.
Sale prices remained consistent into the second day of the sale. Hip No. 165, One To Keep (One Time Pepto x Stylish Play Lena) consigned by Amelia Hermann sold for the highest price in Session II for a final bid of $44,000.
For the first time ever, Triangle Sales offered an Invitational Gelding Session held on the second day of the sale, bringing over twenty geldings trained in various disciplines, each averaging $36,000. When the sale was concluded, it was Hip No. 292 that became the highest seller bringing a final price of $75,000. This 2017 sorrel gelding, SSS Thunderstruck (Shine Big Time x Zansgenuinelightning), was consigned by Turner Performance Horses. Colby Lovell brought the second highest seller of this invitational session with Hip No. 313, Slipout The Backjack (Driftin Jack Frost x DHR Super Sassie) a 2013 buckskin gelding selling for $60,000.
The final day of the sale showed to be consistent with the previous. Hip No. 367, Straight Up Gold (Mr Gold Bucks x Straight Sparkle) bringing a final bid of $55,000 placed the 2019 buckskin gelding as the high seller of Session III.
