Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – Triangle Sales, the leader among all-around Western Performance Horse sales, hit a high mark with its 2023 Fall Sales on October 26, 27 and 28, at Oklahoma State Fair Park, Oklahoma City. An average of $32,812 was realized on the eight highest sellers, with a top 20 average of $25,960, and the overall average of $9,585, with 73% sold from 422 catalogued horses.
Scooters Kit Kat LTE $10,605, a 2015 sorrel mare consigned by Ashley Baxstrom, topped the sale with a winning bid of $41,500 from Tom Detloff, Sioux Falls, S.D. The Kit Kat Sugar daughter, bred to Hashtags for a 2024 foal, is out of 2004 NCHA Futurity Open Top Ten finalist Scooters Stylish Oak LTE $132,333, by Docs Stylish Oak.
Sneakers Blu Boon, consigned by Wilson Cattle, brought $41,000 from Tommy Rose, McKinney, Tex. The 6-year-old gelded son of Once In A Blu Boon has been hauled to outside rodeos extensively and has been paid into the Riata Buckle by the consignor. His dam, Lil Miss Sneakin LTE $28,894, is an Open cutting champion, and the producer of Lil Sneakin Metallic LTE $20,140.
Six horses claimed winning bids of $30,000, including Coooter Brown and Xtra Maid A Cocktail, on Day One. Consigned by Clay Mills and purchased by Karen Coon, Torrington, Wyo., 11-year-old Dualin Puddy Tap gelding Coooter Brown LTE $99,432, has ranked second or third in 5 major NCHA Open competitions, including as reserve champion of the 2016 Utah Futurity.
Xtra Maid A Cocktail, consigned by CM Quarter Horses LLC and purchased by Kyle Schmitt, Holland, Iowa, is a 5-year-old palomino gelding sired by Wimpyneedsacocktail. In addition to limited NRHA showing in the lower non-pro levels, Xtra Maid A Cocktail has been started in roping, is enrolled in the NRBC, and was shown in the Triangle Fall Sales Preview on October 26.
Day Two, October 28, saw four horses command winning bids of $30,000. Krazy Trayn, consigned by Shannon Moreland and purchased by Tommy Rose, is a 5-year-old buckskin sired by Mr King Bar. The one-owner gelding has been used outside on pasture cattle, “stays gentle, and is a big stopper, cowy and very flashy.”
Little Gunner Boy, consigned by Heidi Arvidson brought $30,000 from Kyle Schmitt. The 5-year-old sorrel overo Paint gelding, sired by Wimpys Little Step, is a finished reining horse and has been started on cattle. NRHA nominated and NRBC enrolled, Little Gunner Boy was shown in the Triangle Fall Sales Preview on October 26.
Burningdownthehouse, a 5-year-old sorrel mare sired by Inferno Sixty Six and consigned by Lorenzo Amenta, was also shown in the Triangle Fall Sales Preview. Qualified for the 2023 AQHA World Show in Open Junior Calf Roping and Open Junior Heeling and ready to compete, Burningdownthehouse brought $30,000 from Angi Schmeck, Newman, Ga.
Consigned by Cross Gavel Ranch LLC, 3-year-old Makingbigcash claimed $30,000 from David Stutenkemper, Bolivar, Mo. The palomino stallion, sired by ARC Gunnabeabigstar, and in training with Todd Bergen for 12 months, sold as well-rounded for cow horse, versatility, and reining disciplines.
