The 43rd Triangle Winter Sale set a confident tone for the 2026 sale season, reflecting continued demand for quality performance horses across disciplines, bloodlines, and stages of training. Held January 22-24 in Oklahoma City, the sale brought together breeders, competitors, and program managers from across the country, with participation remaining strong both in person and online despite winter weather challenges late in the week.
Across all sessions, the sale posted an overall average of $17,186.26, with 84% of horses selling. Strength was especially evident at the top end, where the Top 50 head averaged $51,210.00, showing continued buyer confidence in proven female families, program-bred prospects, and horses with the kind of foundation and versatility that translates across events.
Demand was not limited to one segment of the market. Broodmares with production records tied to current rope horse futurity success drew strong competition, while younger prospects with size, structure, and trainability appealed to buyers developing their own programs. That balance helped create steady trade across ages and disciplines.
Session I on Thursday, January 22 (Hip No. 1–143) saw 84% sold and established a solid tone early. Buyers were active on well-started young horses and versatile individuals, led by Hip 46, Blackk Ice, who topped the session at $65,000 as the highest-selling three year old of the sale. Eight horses brought $30,000 or more, reinforcing early strength in the market.
Session II (Hip No. 144-312) on Friday, January 23 featured the Flag Ranch Production Sale & Complete Rope Horse Broodmare Dispersal and produced the highest seller of the entire event. Flag Ranch averaged $57,642.86, between their consignments. The Top 20 averaged $75,200, showing depth in the session as buyers pursued standout individuals from a range of respected breeding programs.
Session III (Hip No. 313-494) on Saturday, January 24 closed the week with the highest sell-through rate at 86% sold, even as winter weather rolled in. The session’s Top 20 averaged $31,400, led by a versatile, reining-bred gelding with broad appeal and practical experience.
Across all three days, buyers represented a wide range of programs, from breeding operations strengthening their mare bands to competitors and ranch programs investing in their next performance prospects. Read more about the Top 10 high sellers below.

Hip No. 233 | Consigned by Flag Ranch
2015 gray mare, in foal to Reys Of Pep
The high seller of the entire sale, Playin For Fury represented the centerpiece of Flag Ranch’s broodmare offering. She is the dam of Una Furiosa, a $150,000+ rope horse futurity winner with Billie Jack Saebens, and continues to anchor one of the program’s most productive female lines. Her combination of proven production, performance blood, and selling currently in foal to a futurity earner himself set this mare apart.
Among the four mares acquired by Stellpflug Cattle Co. of Guernsey, Wyoming was the event’s high seller, and the program shared, “We were extremely impressed with the overall quality and consistency of this set of mares. Each one brings a strong combination of proven bloodlines, athleticism, and the kind of mind we look for in a long-term rope horse program. Playin For Fury, Picks Petie, One Time Mistress, and Paint Your Playgun all stood out to us as mares with the ability to produce high-level performers. We’re excited about what they add to our program and confident they will play a big role in our future.”
