38th Annual Triangle Spring Sale Makes History with $7,000 Average

May 8, 2017
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Shawnee, Okla., May 8, 2017 — The Triangle Spring Sale, held Sat. April 29, achieved a net sales average of $7,000 per head, marking a historical record in the company’s 38-year history. Buyers traveled from 17 states amid heavy regional rainfall, to purchase 200 head for an 85-percent sales completion (less those withdrawn) and reach a lofty top 10 average of $24,100.

The one-day sale was held in Shawnee’s Heart of Oklahoma Expo Center and began with demonstrations, followed by a multiple-session sale. Strong sales generated a top 50 average of $13,500, and led to 37 new additions to Triangle’s “Top $10,000 Club,” now numbering 118 head from two sales in 2017. Triangle Sales’ owner, Jim Ware established the “Top $10,000 Club” in 2015 to designate horses selling for more than $10,000.

Helping to shape the Spring Sale’s impressive net average was a $9,200 average on 59 geldings sold under saddle, reflective of the increasing demand for quality, performance-based horses, particularly those ready to ride. The demand has prompted steady gains seen in recent sales. Triangle’s Winter Sale sold 81 horses for more than $10,000; the 2017 Spring Sale’s $7,000 average is up from a $5,750 average in 2016.
